Waste Re-cycling
Battery Re-cycling
Nickle Cadmium is one of the most damaging substances we put in landfill, and as such is categorised as special waste and must be managed by a certified waste handler.
Currently there are no re-cycling facilities in the UK for Ni-Cad, which is why virtually all go to landfill. At FuelSafe we will collect and store the batteries, once a full load is available they will be sent across to Europe for re-cycling. |

Oil Re-cycling
Usually waste oil (engine, water contaminated or un-wanted) is filtered with the liquid portion sold as rough fuel for power stations and the solid matter sent to landill.
FuelSafe collects and filters the oil. The solid matter is filtered and compressed to minimise waste and the liquid portion is re-cycled to be used again.
Wormeries
Worms are amazing little creatures! They can digest anything that has ever lived. There are various waste materials that currently have to go to landfill (e.g. MDF and carpets) that can be eaten by worms!
Quite simply, the waste matter is broken down into smallish chunks (size of a sheet of A2 paper), put into a suitable housing and then the worms are added! Once the worms get stuck in they convert the waste to completely clean and useable compost.
Fluorescent Tubes
One fluorescent tube contains enough mercury to pollute over 30,000lts of drinking water. Because of this, since July 2005, it has been illegal to dump fluorescent tubes in landfill sites. Under the Duty of Care regulations these tubes should be stored on site in a suitable, sealed container and collected by a licensed waste carrier (with all the appropriate paperwork to show that they have been correctly collected). FuelSafe can offer the on site containers, collection and re-cycling |
